Privacy & Terms
Your privacy matters to us
Introduced Dating Ltd ("Introduced", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it.
This policy applies to our website, any survey or waitlist forms we operate, and — when it launches — the Introduced app. It is written in plain English because legal jargon helps no one.
We are registered in England and Wales. Our registered address and contact details are set out at the end of this document. As a UK company, we comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Introduced Dating Ltd is the data controller for information collected through our website, surveys, and waitlist. This means we decide how and why your personal data is processed.
We are a pre-launch startup currently operating in research and development phase. At this stage, we collect data primarily to understand the market and to build our waitlist of people interested in joining Introduced when we launch.
What data we collect
The type of data we collect depends on how you interact with us. Here is what we may collect:
Survey & Research Participants
If you complete one of our research surveys, we collect your survey responses (age range, location, dating app usage, opinions on the product concept). If you voluntarily provide your name and email address at the end of the survey to be contacted about a focus group, we store those too. Survey responses without contact details are stored anonymously.
Waitlist Sign-Ups
If you join our waitlist via our website, we collect your email address and, if provided, your first name. We may also ask for your city so we can notify you when Introduced launches in your area.
Website Visitors
We may collect basic analytics data such as pages visited, time on site, and device type. This is collected in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.
We do not collect any special category data (such as health information, ethnicity, or sexual orientation) at this stage. When the app launches, a separate and more detailed privacy notice will apply to app users.
Why we collect it & our legal basis
Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. Here is our basis for each type of processing:
- Waitlist emails: Consent. You actively provide your email to be kept informed about our launch. You can withdraw this consent at any time by unsubscribing.
- Survey responses (anonymous): Legitimate interests. We have a legitimate interest in conducting market research to develop our product. Anonymous data carries no meaningful risk to you.
- Focus group contact details: Consent. You choose to provide your name and email to be contacted about participation. You can ask us to remove these at any time.
- Website analytics: Legitimate interests, where data is aggregated and not used to identify individuals. Where cookies require consent, we ask for it.
How we use your data
We use your data only for the purposes for which it was collected:
- To send you updates about our launch and progress, if you have joined our waitlist
- To contact you about focus group participation, if you expressed interest
- To analyse survey responses in aggregate to inform our product development
- To understand how people use our website so we can improve it
- To comply with legal obligations if required
Who we share it with
We may share your data with a small number of trusted third-party service providers who help us operate our business. These are:
- Google (Google Sheets / Google Forms): Used to store survey responses and research data. Google processes data in accordance with their privacy policy and the UK GDPR data processing terms we have in place with them.
- Netlify: Used to host our website and survey pages. Netlify may collect basic server logs.
- Email service providers: If we use an email platform to send waitlist communications, your email address will be stored with that provider. We will name the provider in any marketing emails we send.
All third parties we work with are required to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify. We do not transfer your data outside of the UK or EEA without ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place.
How long we keep it
We keep your data only for as long as is necessary:
- Waitlist email addresses: Until you unsubscribe, or until 12 months after our Manchester launch — whichever is sooner.
- Focus group contact details: Until the focus group programme is complete, or until you ask us to remove them.
- Anonymous survey responses: Retained indefinitely for research and product development purposes, as they contain no personal data.
- Website analytics: Typically 12–26 months, depending on the analytics platform used.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Right of access: You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: You can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure: You can ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances (sometimes called the "right to be forgotten").
- Right to restriction: You can ask us to restrict how we use your data while a complaint is being investigated.
- Right to data portability: You can ask us to provide your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Right to object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent: Where we process your data on the basis of consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time — including by unsubscribing from our emails.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Our survey responses are stored in Google Sheets with restricted access. Our website is hosted on Netlify with HTTPS encryption.
No system is completely secure, but we take our responsibilities seriously and will notify you and the ICO promptly in the event of a data breach that is likely to affect your rights and freedoms.
